Helpful links for Visiting Czech Republic

Prague Shopping Guide

Bohemian (Czech) Crystal

The Czech Republic is famous for its Bohemian crystal, and there is no shortage of shops in Prague selling crystal in all its various forms. Czech crystal wine glasses, vases, figurines, chandeliers, jewelry and other wares are available in stores throughout the Czech Republic.

Like any crystal, Bohemian crystal varies in quality and price, so make sure to do your research before making a purchase (don’t buy anything without a “Bohemia Crystal – Made in the Czech Republic” sticker on it).
The most famous Czech crystal company is Moser, which is headquartered in the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad). The company is known for its high quality Bohemian crystal and glass, and has a large store near Prague’s Old Town Square.

Czech Garnet Jewelry

Dark red and dazzling, Czech garnets are popular jewelry and souvenir items in Prague and the Czech Republic. Visitors to Prague can find Czech garnets in many forms: garnet earrings, garnet necklaces, garnet pendants, and even garnet tiaras!

A word of advice on purchasing Czech garnets: Granat Turnov is the Czech garnet company; when purchasing Czech garnets, make sure you get a Granat Turnov certificate stating that it is an authentic Czech garnet.
Granat Turnov has two shops in Prague, but many other shops sell their Czech garnets.

Prague Clothing Stores

Prague and other large Czech cities have all of the major European clothing stores (think Zara, Mango, and H&M) plus some authentic Czech ones (think Bata, the Czech shoe store chain).

There are several large shopping malls in Prague (for example, at Andel), but the most conveniently-located shopping is in Old Town. Na Prikope, a conveniently pedestrian-only street near Wenceslas Square, can keep a dedicated shopper busy for hours.
Nearby is the chi chi Parizska Street, which boasts of beautiful Parisian architecture and shops like Christian Dior, Pringle of Scotland, Francesa Lecca, and Lacoste.

Prauge Department Stores

Gone are the days of Czech communism and empty shops. Prague’s department stores are brimming with goods, and their convenient locations make it easy for expats and visitors alike to buy the basics.

The Prague Tesco is the best department store for food, cosmetics, electronics, and home goods. It is conveniently located in New Town near Wenceslas Square.
Kotva is another good option for home furnishings, clothing, electronics, and kitchenware in Prague.
