Prague Metro Guide
The Prague metro, or subway, is an underground public transportation system with extensive links in Prague. The metro and the tram system are the best ways to get around Prague by public transport.
The Prague metro has three lines. They are color-coded and lettered. The lines are Green (Line A), Yellow (Line B), and Red (Line C).
Prague metro line A runs from east to west and connects with line B at Mustek and line C at Muzeum.
Prague metro line B runs from east to west and connects with line A at Mustek and line C at Florenc.
Prague metro line C runs from north to south and connects with line A at Muzeum and line B at Florenc.
The Prague metro hours are from 4 or 5am until midnight, and the metro is open every day. Trains run less frequently at off-peak times and on weekends (particularly Sundays).
Buying a ticket for the Prague metro is a straightforward process. You can purchase tickets at any metro station from ticket vending machines or from a ticket window.
Prague metro tickets are single tickets. One type of ticket lasts up to 30 minutes and allows you to travel to up to 5 stations. This metro ticket costs 18 CZK. A more flexible metro ticket lasts for 75 minutes and allows you to travel to an unlimited number of stations. This ticket costs 26 CZK.
You can also get a 1 day, 3 day, 5 day, 1 month, 3 month, or 1 year Prague metro pass.
In the future there will be a Blue line (Line D) as well, but construction is still under way. A proposed E line has also been discussed.
