Prague's Christmas Markets (Vanocni trh in Czech) are some of the most famous Christmas Markets in Europe. Held during the entire month of December each year, Prague's Christmas Markets are the highlight of spending Christmas in Prague.

Prague's main Christmas Markets are located in Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. There are also several smaller Christmas Markets in Namesti Republiky and Havelske Trziste.

The main features of Prague's Christmas Markets are the brightly-lit Christmas trees and wooden market stalls selling handicrafts, Christmas food and drink, and mulled wine.

In addition, the Prague Christmas Market in Old Town Square features a children's petting zoo, a life-size manger scene, and live entertainment throughout the month.

But beyond merely freezing out the stag groups and dropping the occupancy rates, Prague’s winter weather gives curious travelers a chance to take in the city’s attractions at a leisurely pace and, this season at least, discover some of the city’s newest developments before they make it into the guidebooks.

Czech artist David Cerny is best known for his controversial public art works in Prague. Among the most famous (and most visible) works of David Cerny are the crawling babies on the Zizkov TV tower, the statue of St. Wenceslas riding a dead horse in the Lucerna, and a man hanging from a pole with one arm at the top of a building. David Cerny is also known for his acts of dissidence against the Communist regime in Czechoslovakia, such as the time he was arrested for painting a soviet tank memorial.
