Taking a train from Munich to Dachau is an easy way to do a day trip to the Dachau concentration camp.

Suburban S-Bahn trains run from Munich to Dachau, which makes it easy to get from one city to the other. Line S2 of the S-Bahn runs from Munich to Dachau (direction Dachau / Petershausen) every 20 minutes at peak times.

S-Bahn trains from Munich to Dachau take around 20-30 minutes depending on where in Munich you start from. You can purchase a two-zone S-Bahn ticket at the ticket booths in the S-Bahn stations.

Buses from Dachau to the Concentration Camp:

Once you arrive in Dachau on the S-Bahn train, you can take bus 724 or bus 726 to the KZ-Gedenkstaette stop, which is just outside the concentration camp in Dachau.

The bus from Dachau to the concentration camp takes around 10 minutes. Buses run every 20 minutes at peak times. If you’re visiting during peak season, try to get there early so you don’t have to wait in long lines for the bus.

Buses from Dachau to the concentration camp are free if you travel by S-Bahn train from Munich to Dachau.
