Pompeii

Pompeii is a great place to visit on your way from Naples to Sorrento, or on your way from Sorrento to Naples.

The Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento stops in Pompeii about half way between the two cities. As such, many people wishing to visit Pompeii do so at the beginning or end of their trip to the Amalfi Coast.

That means that many people visiting Pompeii have luggage with them when they arrive. The staff at the Pompeii ruins know this, and have a left luggage facility at Pompeii.

Left luggage in Pompeii is located within the museum complex. When you walk through the gates, head to the right of the ticket booths and down the ramp as if you are going to the Pompeii entry turnstiles. To the right of the turnstiles is a small office for left luggage.

The left luggage office in Pompeii will take your bags and give you a ticket that you can use to collect your luggage at the end of your visit to Pompeii.

Left luggage in Pompeii is free of charge.

Make sure to bring your valuables with you if you use the left luggage facilities in Pompeii. There are no locks on the cupboards that bags are stored in, so it’s best to keep valuable items with you as you tour Pompeii.

After 5 hours, left luggage costs 0.60 euros / hour for up to 12 hours, and 0.20 euros / hour for each additional hour beyond the 12th hour.

Milan central train station left luggage facilities operate out of an office on the ground floor of the station. The office is located in the indoor hallway on the piazza Luigi di Savoia side of Milano Centrale train station.

The cost for left luggage at the Milan train station is a flat 4 euros per item for the first 5 hours or part thereof. After the first 5 hours, left luggage costs 0.60 euros / hour for up to 12 hours, and 0.20 euros / hour for each additional hour beyond 12 hours.

The Milan train station left luggage office is open every day from 6:00 to 24:00.

NB: The Milan train station left luggage office has a very strict 20kg weight limit, so make sure to your bags are less than that weight.
