Circumvesuviana Train

Trains from Pompeii to Naples depart from the platforms at Pompeii Scavi train station, which is located in front of the entrance to the ruins. They arrive at the underground platforms in the Naples Centrale train station, which is in Piazza Garibaldi.

Circumvesuviana trains leave Pompeii Scavi train station frequently for Naples Centrale railway station at peak times between 6:00 and 23:00. Trains from Naples to Pompeii also run frequently during these hours.

Circumvesuviana trains leave Pompeii Scavi train station for Sorrento approximately every half hour at peak times. Trains from Sorrento to Pompeii operate on similar timetables.

The travel time from Pompeii to Sorrento is 40 minutes. There are often delays, so give yourself extra time if you have a connection in Sorrento.

Single train tickets from Pompeii to Sorrento cost 1.90 euros. Cheap day return tickets are available if you take a day trip to the Amalfi Coast while visiting Italy. Be sure to validate your ticket before boarding the train.

Pompeii

Pompeii is a great place to visit on your way from Naples to Sorrento, or on your way from Sorrento to Naples.

Left luggage in Pompeii is located within the museum complex. When you walk through the gates, head to the right of the ticket booths and down the ramp as if you are going to the Pompeii entry turnstiles. To the right of the turnstiles is a small office for left luggage.

The left luggage office in Pompeii will take your bags and give you a ticket that you can use to collect your luggage at the end of your visit to Pompeii.

Make sure to bring your valuables with you if you use the left luggage facilities in Pompeii. There are no locks on the cupboards that bags are stored in, so it’s best to keep valuable items with you as you tour Pompeii.
