Brecon Beacons

The best way to get from Cardiff to Brecon Beacons is to drive, as train transport in Wales is limited outside of major cities like Cardiff and Swansea.

Driving from Cardiff to Brecon Beacons only takes 40 minutes. Drive north out of Cardiff along Bute Park and then take the N Rd / A470 highway north until you reach Merthyr Tydfil at the southern end of Brecon Beacons National Park.

Detailed driving directions are here.
