Prague Castle<\/a><\/strong>
\nThe most famous Czech castle is Prague Castle. Located high on a hill in the heart of the city, the castle complex is home to the beautiful St Vitus Cathedral, many historic buildings, and even a toy museum. Visitors can take tours or explore the castle with an audioguide.<\/p>\n

Karlstejn Castle<\/a><\/strong>
\nAnother hilltop fortress, Karlstejn is one of the prettiest castles in the Czech Republic. Built in the 14th century by Charles IV, its stunning buildings are home to the famous Chapel of the Holy Rood, which features a myriad of precious and semiprecious stones on its walls.<\/p>\n

Konopiste Castle<\/a><\/strong>
\nKonopiste Castle is the historic home of Frans Ferdinand d’Este, the archduke that was killed at the start of World War I. The castle’s rooms are full of his hunting trophies, which number in the thousands. The grounds are also gorgeous, with pretty gardens, plenty of wildlife, and a peaceful lake.<\/p>\n

Cesky Sternberk Castle<\/strong>
\nBuilt in the 13th century, the stunning Cesky Sternberk is truly one of the best castles in the Czech Republic. The architecture and interiors range in style from Gothic to Baroque, as the buildings were built and renovated over the centuries. Highlights include the beautiful Chapel of St. Sebastian and the Louis XVI furniture.<\/p>\n

Cesky Krumlov Castle<\/a><\/strong>
\nOne of the best known Czech castles outside of Prague is located in the storybook town of Cesky Krumlov. The colorful castle dominates the town’s landscape and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can tour the castle and its grounds. Seeing the interior is worth a trip, if only to see the sumptuous Baroque theater.<\/p>\n

Vilemov and Zleby Castles<\/a><\/strong>
\nThese two neighboring chateaux are often overlooked by visitors, but they are among the best castles in the Czech Republic.
