Berlin Christmas Markets dates: various from late November to early January
The annual Berlin Christmas markets are one of the biggest seasonal celebrations of the year in Germany. People come from all over the world to visit Berlin at Christmastime to see the city’s 60 markets.
Berlin’s markets are home to hundreds of Christmas market stalls selling all of the traditional crafts that German Christmas markets are known for. In addition, the markets serve up a wide range of good German food and hot, spiced mulled wine.
Live music and entertainment is often a feature of the markets as well. The Winter World market in Potsdamer Platz even offers the biggest mobile toboggan sled run in all of Europe. At 12 metres high and 70 metres long, it is a stunning sight to behold (and experience, if you’re brave!). It also features a large outdoor ice skating rink.
One of the most popular Berlin Christmas markets is the Winterdream at Alexa, which is located right in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz in the Berlin city centre. It features carnival rides, shopping, and wooden chalets around the Alexa shopping centre.
Other popular Berlin Christmas markets include the market at Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the WeihnachtsZauber market in Gendarmenmarkt.
