Monterosso al Mare is the northernmost town in Cinque Terre. Monterosso, as it’s called for short, is one of the two largest towns in Cinque Terre (the other being Riomaggiore, the southernmost town in Cinque Terre).
Monterosso al Mare is home to a great many of Cinque Terre’s hotels and is one of the few towns with accessible parking, so many visitors choose to make the town their home base while visiting the region.
Monterosso also has two large beaches (the largest beaches of the five towns) with lots of sun umbrellas. If you like to sunbathe, Monterosso is a good option for you.
There is no shortage of restaurants, shops and cafes in Monterosso al Mare, so visitors can be happily entertained when not at the beach or on the hiking trails in Cinque Terre.
