San Sebastian is known for being a culinary city unrivaled in its number of Michelin stars per capita, but you don’t have to break the bank to eat well while you are visiting. <\/p>\n

Pintxos (tapas or small bites) are a very popular dining option in the city, and one of the best ways to spend an evening there is to go from bar to bar, eating a few pintxos at each one. <\/p>\n

To help you plan your route, the following five restaurants have the top pintxos in San Sebastian. They are all within easy walking distance of one another.<\/p>\n

1. Casa Alcalde<\/strong>

La Cepa is an old, rustic sort of place that has good tapas and wine. Make sure to sample the croqueta de jamon (ham croquette); it’s to die for.<\/p>\n

Restaurante Gandarias has a wide variety of hot and cold pintxos on display along its bar. Make sure to try the Montaditos de Jamon (small prosciutto sandwiches).<\/p>\n

4. A Fuego Negro<\/strong>

A Fuego Negro is one of the best trendy bars for pintxos in San Sebastian. Serving up mouth-watering creations like a tiny Kobe beef burger on a ketchup-flavored bun, they know how to do pintxos very well. They have an excellent wine list, too.<\/p>\n

5. La Cuchara de San Telmo<\/strong>

Tucked away in a plaza off of calle 31 de Agosto, La Cuchara de San Telmo serves up some of the best and most inventive pintxos in town. The beer battered bakalau tempura and the grilled octopus are among the best dishes there.<\/p>\n
