The Lisbon Botanical Garden is part of the University of Lisbon. Called the Jardim Botanico da Universidade de Lisboa in Portuguese, the garden was planted starting in 1873 and was incorporated in 1878.
The botanical garden is small but beautiful, and is located on top of a high hill in the city.
Lisbon’s botanical garden is packed full of flowers and other kinds of plants that come to the city from all over the world. There is an abundance of palm species there, as well as many plants from South America, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
The garden also features some species of unsual waterfowl. Additionally, a number of stray city cats make the Lisbon Botanical Garden their home.
Visitors to the Lisbon Botanical Garden can tour the outside grounds as well as a few indoor greenhouses.
The admission price for the Lisbon Botanical Garden is 1.50 euros.
