The majority of Belgium is Flemish-speaking, followed by French and then German.

Geographically, the population of Belgium in the region of Wallonia speaks French, the small population in the east speaks German, and the population in the northern region of Flanders speaks Flemish.

There is some geographic overlap of languages in Belgium, though.

This is most prominent in the capital city, Brussels, where both French and Flemish are the official languages.

All public signs in Brussels are written in both languages.

There are also regional dialects and other languages in Belgium spoken by people throughout the country.

Note that Eurolines buses are rather notorious for being late. If you have a connection to another bus or a train or flight in Brussels make sure to leave yourself at least two hours after your bus arrives.
