The Palacio da Pena in Sintra is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. The delicious Romantic architecture and amazingly over-the-top interior decor make the Palacio da Pena a must-visit on your trip to Sintra.
Pink, purple, and yellow, the Palacio da Pena is easy to spot from all around Sintra’s hills. The palace resembles a fairy-tale castle and its surrounding gardens are equally beautiful.
To get to the Palacio da Pena from Sintra, hike up the hillside from the small, winding streets below or walk the short distance from the Castelo dos Mouros.
Alternately, Scotturb bus number 434 runs from the Sintra train station and Sintra tourist office to the Palacio de Pena entrance (RT ticket is 4.00EUR). The Palacio entrance and ticket booth are off the main road.
Tickets for the garden and the palace can be purchased separately, and combination tickets with the Castelo dos Mouros are available.
Admission price for the Palacio da Pena is 8.00EUR for adults (concessions available).
Opening hours for the Palacio da Pena in Sintra are 10am-5:30pm mid-Sept-April, 9:45am-7pm May-mid-Sept.
