Driving in Ireland

Driving is the best way to visit Ireland and see the Irish countryside.

While train links from Dublin to other cities in Ireland are good, trains and public transportation are not extensive outside of major Irish cities.

Driving allows people visiting Ireland to explore more of the off-the-beaten-path roads and areas that make Ireland so famous for its natural beauty.

Keep in mind that driving in Ireland is done on the left side of the road.

Most cars for hire in Ireland will be manual transmission (stick shift).

Dublin airport offers a car hire option through several well known international car hire companies.

If your flight lands at another airport in Ireland, there is Cork airport car hire, and Shannon airport car hire, and car hire at other airports throughout Ireland.
