Riomaggiore is the southernmost of the five towns in Cinque Terre. It is large as the region’s towns go, with the other large town being Monterosso al Mare, the northernmost town in Cinque Terre.

Riomaggiore is situated right on the waterfront, and extends up a steep hill. There is an elevator from the town’s train station to the top of the hill, which is useful for those with luggage and people that don’t want to walk all the way up.

Riomaggiore is major hub for Cinque Terre ferries, which makes it a great place to stay if you plan to take advantage of this method of transportation.
