Faro, Portugal
The Algarve is Portugal’s premier destination for beach loving sun worshippers. If you only have a few days in the Algarve, your best bet is to base yourself in Faro and visit as many of Faro’s beaches as you can.
The main Faro beach is Praia de Faro on Ilha de Faro. To get there, you can take bus 10 or bus 14 from the Faro bus station in the city center.
Other island beaches in Faro include Praia de Farol on Ilha da Culatra and Ilha da Barreta, or Ilha da Deserta. To get to these beaches, you will need to take a ferry or boat.
Some hotels in Faro offer guests free catamaran rides to one or the other of these beaches in the high season. Alternatively, ferries run from Faro’s marina to these two great Faro beaches.
