It is best to go with one of the larger international rental car companies when booking car hire at Barcelona Airport. Smaller companies like Golcar are notorious for quoting low rates and then adding astronomical petrol charges once you arrive at the car hire lot. If you don’t need to hire a car at Barcelona Airport, consider taking a taxi, private car, train, or bus from the airport to the city center. From there you can get around by foot, taxi, metro, or bus.
