Olomouc is one of the best places to visit in the Czech Republic. Bursting with charm and history, the city is an off-the-beaten-path gem.

The City of Olomouc
Located 280 kilometers (175 miles) east of Prague, the city of Olomouc is known to many as a smaller, less touristy version of the Czech capital. The fifth largest city in the Czech Republic, Olomouc’s history dates back to the 10th century.

The top sites in Olomouc include the 18th century Holy Trinity Column on the city’s Upper Square. It was named to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.

Additionally, the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary on the Holy Hill is a great place to visit. It was named a Basilica Minor by Pope John Paul II.

The 19th century neo-Gothic St. Wenceslas Cathedral is another of the city’s sightseeing highlights.
