Sparkly and new, the Porto metro is a great and inexpensive way to get around the city. Porto is mostly navigable on foot, but there are several destinations further afield that make using the metro a good choice.

For example, the Violet line of the Porto metro is a great way to get from the Porto airport to the city center. It is much less expensive than taking a taxi or hiring a car, and it takes you directly to the center of Porto without any changes.

The Trindade metro station is the central station where all lines meet. If you need to transfer, it is a good place to do so.

The Igreja de Sao Francisco in Porto is one of the most important churches in the city. Located in the southern part of Porto right above the Douro River, the Franciscan church is a must-see and an important place to add to any Porto sightseeing itinerary.
