The best time of year to visit Barcelona depends on why you are traveling to Spain and what your preferences for weather and crowds are.
If having good weather is your primary objective, the best time to visit is from late winter to mid-autumn. From February through October the weather is very mild and pleasant in Barcelona. Spring and autumn weather tends to hover in the 20’s C / 70’s F.
Summer warms up with temperatures climbing into the 30’s C / 80’s F. Summer is also the busiest tourist season in the city, so if your main goal is to avoid crowds, try to visit in the shoulder seasons.
September brings many public holidays and cultural festivals, making it a great time of year to visit Barcelona. The summer tourist crowds will have thinned, but the weather will still be warm and pleasant.
If you don’t mind cooler weather and rain, winter is also a good time of year to visit Barcelona. Crowds will be at a minimum and prices for hotels and attractions will be at their lowest.
