Winters in Istanbul are cold, with lots of rain, wind, and snow. While winter temperatures don’t fall too far below freezing, it is a good idea to bring heavy winter clothes with you if you are visiting Istanbul in the colder months.
Summer weather in Istanbul is hot and humid. Temperatures rise into the high 20’s C (80’s F) and rainfall is intermittent but not unheard of. If you visit during the summer months, make sure to stay hydrated and bring an umbrella in case of sudden rain showers.
Spring and autumn in Istanbul are temperate with rainy periods, so make sure to bring a light jacket and, of course, an umbrella when you are visiting.
The best time of year to visit Istanbul is April through October if weather is a primary concern for you.
