If you arrive on a flight to Dublin Airport (DUB), you won’t be able to take a train into the Dublin city centre just yet.

Plans are underway for a new metro from Dublin Airport to the city, but the project has been put on hold and may not be completed for some time.

When the metro is up and running, the train will take just 18 minutes to get from Dublin Airport to St Stephen’s Green, which is located right in the heart of the city centre. The metro is slated to leave from a new train station between the two terminals at the airport.

Construction on the train from Dublin Airport to the Dublin city centre was scheduled to start in 2010, but there is no completion date set yet. In the meantime, the best ways to get to your final destination are to take a bus or a taxi. The airport is located just 15 kilometres (9 miles) from the city centre, so it is relatively fast and cheap to get to destinations in Dublin and further afield.
