Trains from Venice to Florence are an easy way to travel between the two popular cities when you are visiting Italy.

Trains on this route depart from either Venice Santa Lucia or Venice Mestre train station. If your hotel is in the Venice city center, it is best to take a train from Santa Lucia because it is closer to where you will be staying. Trains arrive at either Florence Santa Maria Novella (SMN) or Rifredi train station.

Frecciargento trains are the nicest and fastest trains on this route. InterCity trains also travel between these cities, and they are less expensive but not as nice as Frecciargento trains. Additionally, the journey takes 25 to 50 minutes longer.

Trains depart Venice frequently throughout the day, and there are up to two departures an hour. The journey time is 2 hours and 5 minutes on Frecciargento trains, and up to 2 hours and 55 minutes on InterCity trains.

Fares for Frecciargento trains can be as low as 45.00 euros for first class and 19.00 euros for second class. InterCity fares start at 26.00 euros for first class and 9.00 euros for second class. These deep discounts are available if you book at least 30 days ahead of time.

You can still save money if you buy tickets for trains from Venice to Florence online at least 15 days in advance. If not, prices start at 25.50 for second class and go up to 63.00 for first class.
