Best Time of Year to Visit Munich

The best time of year to visit Munich depends on what you plan to do while you are visiting Germany. For most people, the best time is from the late spring to the early autumn.

The weather in Munich can vary from -20 degrees C (-5 F) in the winter to above 30 degrees C (90 F) in the summer.

The weather will be cooler during the shoulder seasons than during the summer, but in the shoulder seasons the tourist crowds are fewer and the days tend to be sunny.

Late September and early October are the best time of year to visit Munich if you want to take part in Oktoberfest, Munich’s most famous festival.

Winter is a great time to visit if you plan to go skiing in Germany or neighbouring Austria, and summer is great if you want to explore Munich and the surrounding area in warm weather.
